Príncipe is a smaller island located north of the nation of São Tomé and Príncipe, off the west coast of Africa in the Gulf of Guinea. The island covers an area of 142 km² (including offshore islets) and had a population of 7,324 according to the 2012 census; the latest official estimate (May 2018) is 8,420.
